Type Investigations is pleased to announce three new Springboard Project partnerships for 2026: India Currents, Puente News Collaborative, and South Side Weekly. Through the Springboard Project, Type will be offering these newsrooms an infusion of editorial, research, and financial support to help strengthen their investigative capacity. They join ongoing Springboard partners Gulf States Newsroom and The Blacklight At New York Amsterdam News.
“We at Type Investigations are thrilled to launch collaborations with these publications and expand our work with current Springboard newsrooms,” said Noy Thrupkaew, the director of partnerships at Type Investigations. “Each of our partners has earned the trust of historically underserved communities through rigorous reporting and deep relationships with their readerships, and we are honored to bring them together as a cohort and to support their work.”
The Springboard Project launched in 2023 to help local newsrooms serving historically marginalized communities publish complex investigations and develop the resources to produce investigative work for years to come.
About The Partners
India Currents is an award-winning, nonprofit news organization producing Indian American stories that explain and explore living in the United States. The India Currents team will be investigating labor law violations and fraud within the H1-B system.

Puente News Collaborative is a bilingual nonprofit newsroom, convener and funder dedicated to high quality, fact-based news and information from the U.S.-Mexico border. Puente fellow Annie Rosenthal will be investigating the long-term impact of U.S. border security programs and infrastructure on border communities.

South Side Weekly is an independent newspaper for and by Chicago’s South Side. The Weekly’s team will investigate the scope and details of the ongoing raids by ICE, Border Patrol and other federal agents in Chicago, as well as the impact those raids are having on targeted communities.
