Amelia Schonbek

Amelia Schonbek is a writer and editor who lives in New York. Her work focuses on the ways that politics and social policy shape individual lives. She is especially interested in how people experience and move on from trauma and conflict. She has written about the use of restorative justice in cases of domestic violence; the impact of coming forward publicly on survivors of sexual misconduct; and how an artist who thought her work could keep her from dying lived out the final months of her life. You can read her stories in New York, the New York Times, and Longreads. She is also a features editor at Hazlitt. When not at work, she likes to sing, swim, and be outdoors.
