Carmel DeAmicis joined The Nation as an intern in January 2011 after working as a news reporter for a Dubai-based television station that broadcasts across the Middle East and North Africa. She is a 2009 graduate of UC Berkeley, where she studied Language and Identity and wrote a weekly opinion column for the Daily Californian.
