Hella Winston

Hella Winston is a sociologist and investigative journalist based in New York City whose work has focused on issues related to criminal justice, education, the intersection of religion and the State and public corruption. She is a Senior Fellow at Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism and this past year was chosen as a John Jay/Quattrone Fellow in Criminal Justice Investigative Reporting. She is the author of Unchosen: The Hidden lives of Hasidic Rebels (Beacon: 2005) and the co-author, with Katherine Newman, of Reskilling America: Learning to Labor in the 21st Century (Metropolitan: 2016).
